Does Smoking Cause Acne?
We all know smoking injurious to our health? But did you know that it can cause acne too? More people might care about their looks and skin for that reason than about their real health of internal organs. Smoking can cause lung cancer, people know that but still they willingly smoke a pack of cigarette each day. It also increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and a host of other potential health problems aren’t reason enough for you to quit smoking, maybe something more superficial will.
A recent study published in a Dermatology magazine says that women who smokes are four times as likely as non-smokers to develop non-inflammatory acne. Here is how it causes skin acne - nicotine in the cigarette constricts our internal blood vessels and reduces the supply of oxygen our skin needs to produce new cells. This way smoking greatly increases the chances of skin break out for no other reason.
Besides skin acne, smoking can also cause the early onset wrinkles on your face, especially around the lips. It also affects the skin on the rest of your face, too. It gives you awful bad breath. I didn’t even want to kiss my mom good night when I was small because of her tobacco breath. You think you don’t stink, but you do all because of smoke.
